Sarah Burwash (she/they) is a queer visual artist working in a variety of media including watercolour, collage, ceramics, animation, illustration and comics. Her work is both imaginative and rooted in her lived experiences that include cabin building, forest stewarding, motorcycling and crewing on a fishing vessel.
Her work is included in private and public collections internationally and has been shown in Canada, USA and in Europe. She has participated in residencies internationally, most recently at Andrea Zittel’s A-Z West Experimental Cabins in Joshua Tree, CA. Burwash recently attended the Centre for Cartoon Studies to work on her upcoming debut graphic novel ‘Vera Bushwack’.
Originally from kEluwi'sst- Rossland, British Columbia, she lives and plays in Unama’ki- Cape Breton Island.
